Many of the ski resorts offer weekly ski events detailing the history of skiing, the various clothing worn through the ages, the different styles and shapes of skis. But Châtel does it on a whole different level. On 24th February the Linga stadium will be lit-up and becomes an outdoor theatre. Described as a ‘ballet on snow’ a magical tale is then told involving 50 skiing actors (all of them ski instructors) working through a 4000 year history of ski starting at the steps of Central Asia, moving to Scandinavia, on to the 11th century in Norway before ending up in the 19th Century Alps. Ski Memory is THE complete history of skiing. And don’t worry if you miss it. They recreate the entire event on 10th March and 4th April. There are no flies on these history buffs!
