Missing out on a good old fashion car boot sale?
A Sunday morning car boot sale is one of Britain’s great traditions and something that, when we initially moved to France, we hugely missed. Rummaging through trestle tables of old tea pots, china cups, and dog-eared books; clambering over chairs, around tea chests, under bookshelves; tripping on skateboards, or baskets of pine cones! If you are looking for your own car boot fix then Châtel is holding the French equivalent, a Vide Grenier, on Saturday 14 May 2011. It is running from 08:00 to 18:00. On my last visit to a vide grenier, held on the banks of Lac Montriond in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski region, I came home with a car full of traditional Haute Savoie furnishings for a fraction of the normal price. You have been warned!
