Argentiere

Back

Resort altitude: 1035 m

The village of Argentiere in the Mont Blanc valley nestles between its valley's glaciers and the stunning natural reserve of the Aiguilles Rouges. It is located 8.5 km from Chamonix and 10 km from the border into Switzerland over the Col des Montets. Geneva is an easy drive, just an hour and 10 mins, mostly along the motorway.

The village offers a local typically French feel with a handful of restaurants, bars, bakers, post office and a few shops. Argentiere has a few exclusive hamlets offering some of the best views of the Mont Blanc range. There is a regular bus service which connects Argentiere to Chamonix.

Winter
Argentiere is best known for its renowned skiing offered in Les Grands Montets which rises to an impressive 3275 m. Surrounded by glaciers, the pistes are spread over 3 mountainsides (the Argentière glacier, Lognan and the Pendant) and offer tremendous on and off-piste possibilities. The resort is aimed to entertain the intermediate to expert skier with predominantly black and red slopes (5 of each). You can also find 3 blue runs and 4 green descents. There are a total of 10 lifts.

Argentiere is highly rated for snowboarders as well and offers a snowpark and boarder cross at the mid station of Lognan. Excellent snow conditions can be expected to last well into March at this high north facing resort.

Summer
Argentiere is a peaceful base surrounded by forests and waterfalls coming from the glaciers above. The Mont-Blanc valley offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the summer months. There are plenty of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. The valley welcomes visitors from all over the world to offer a wide range of summer sports.

This is one of the busiest times of the year. With it's famous 'Tour du Mont Blanc', one of the most popular European long distance walks, the valley offers a number of walking routes ranging from easy to more demanding levels. The valley welcomes many climbers to its various crags dotted along the valley as well as on all of the amazing peaks in the Mt Blanc Massif.

There are a growing number of downhill mountain bikers to be spotted zooming down the pisted areas and on a clear day, the sky fills with colourful paragliders enjoying the view from above. The Golf course of Les Praz is just a short drive down the valley.
