Servoz is a charming village at the beginning of the Mont Blanc Valley, only 70 km from Geneva all along motorway. It is listed as part of Savoie's regional heritage. If you are looking for a peaceful village but within easy access of Chamonix, this may well suit you.
It is a residential village, composed of alpine chalets and farmhouses dotted around its open plains which offer some outstanding views of the famous mountain range. The picturesque village is home to many a craftsman, with wood work being the main theme. There are a few small hotels, restaurants and shops as well as a post office and rescue service which are open all year round.
Winter
In winter Servoz is host to many snow-walkers; there are some lovely walks on snow-rackets to discover. For skiers, the closest option is Les Houches a 6 km drive away, but if you widen the range to a 20 min drive you have the pick of most of the Mont-Blanc valley's resorts as well as St Gervais-les-Bains which connects with Megeve.
There is a ski bus service from Servoz to Les Houches. Servoz also has a charming train station which connects it to the Chamonix valley.
Summer
The Gorge de la Diosaz is not to be missed by visitors, it is a listed site considered by many as the most beautiful gorge in France. There is an XVIIIth century chapel to be found on the lake, Notre Dame du Lac. Another point of interest is the Saint-Michel castle-ruins.
